Sarah Goncalves is a Portuguese-Canadian dance artist and educator from Georgetown, Ontario. She is passionate about creating positive, welcoming, and encouraging spaces where dancers of all ages and experience levels can feel confident, have fun, and develop their love for movement.
Sarah completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at York University in 2026, specializing in choreography and performance. Throughout her training, she explored a variety of contemporary dance styles and approaches through performance, choreography, and collaboration. She has performed works by artists including Jane Allison, Syreeta Hector, Yui Ugai, and Tracey Norman, and has choreographed pieces for York Dances and Dance Innovations.
Sarah believes that dance education is about more than learning steps and technique. She strives to help her students build confidence, creativity, musicality, and self-expression while encouraging them to discover their own unique qualities as dancers. Her teaching approach is supportive and energetic, with an emphasis on creating an environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, making mistakes, and growing through movement.
Outside of her university training, Sarah has performed internationally as a member of Canada’s National Dance Team, representing Team Canada at the 2023 International Dance Organization World Championships in Belgium. She is a certified dance educator through the Performing Arts Educators of Canada and a member of the International Dance Council – CID under UNESCO.
Sarah is excited to share her passion for dance with her students and to help them build skills, confidence, and meaningful connections through dance.
