Acro Lab 2022
Come join us in our Summer Acro Lab taught by Megan Green, Amie Rigby & Selene Ballesteros-Mingüer!
This is a great opportunity to improve conditioning, tumbling, flexibility, hand balancing and tricks. We will also be including aerial silks & contortion! This is a perfect workshop for students to gain new skills and refine old ones, as well as lay a strong foundation for the year, for students who will be taking Acro classes with us in the fall.
Acro Lab is required for all competitive Acro students.
We can't wait to see you there!
Megan originally hails from Fort St. John, BC, where she studied extensively in ballet, tap, jazz & acrobatics. At the age of 12 she began student teaching and quickly developed a love for sharing her knowledge and passion for dance. Megan has been teaching continuously since that day. She moved to Vancouver in 2005 to continue her training with Move! The Company and perform in various shows throughout the city. Megan is also a certified Yoga Instructor with RYT Certification. Megan holds her associate teaching qualification with the Cecchetti Society of Canada.
Amie Rigby has trained extensively in a variety of styles including ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, stage, hip hop, and tap. She is a graduate of Dance Co, having danced there for eight years before attending the University of British Columbia. In 2015 she received her B.A. in Psychology specializing in childhood development and sports psychology. During her time at UBC she had the opportunity to be a part of the collegiate cheerleading team as well as an all-star team which fostered a love for acro, tumbling, and stunting. She has participated in various national and international competitions and also attended the World Cheerleading Championships representing Canadian cheerleading in 2014. Amie has also coached competitive rhythmic gymnastics and has been able to bring that knowledge of strength and flexibility to her students here at Dance Co. Amie has completed both her Acrobatic Arts and Alixa Flexibility certifications.
Selene is a multifaceted circus artist who draws inspiration from many arts forms and her latin cultural roots. Born in Uruguay to Mexican/Uruguayan parents she incorporates elements of her cultures in her expression onstage. She began her circus journey in Vancouver, Canada. After soon realizing her passion for it, at 18 she moved to Montreal to attend the prestigious National Circus School (ENC). Since graduating in 2015, Selene has been touring globally with Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Éloize, and others. On tour breaks, Selene has organized and taught aerial workshops in a multitude of cities around the world.
