We invite all Intensive & Company dancers aged 13+ join us for our Advanced Summer Intensive at Dance Co Arbutus from July 24th-28th, 2023! This intensive will be taught by guest faculty Justine Fraser and Kylie Miller.

 

Dancers will train in ballet, pointe, contemporary, partnering, choreography development and improv classes each day from 9:00am-3:00pm. This is a great opportunity to further develop your ballet/contemporary technique and artistry over the summer with outstanding guest faculty.

Kylie Miller

Kylie Miller grew up dancing at Dance Co and was a valued member of the Professional Half-Day program throughout high school. Upon graduation, Kylie studied at Modus Operandi Contemporary Dance Program under the direction and mentorship of Tiffany Tregarthen, David Raymond, and Kate Franklin from 2016 to 2020. She was privileged to learn and perform many artists’ work both local and abroad. Since graduating she has worked more closely with Out Innerspace Dance Theatre, Company 605, Ne. Sans Opera and Dance, as well as Crystal Pite for an opportunity to choreograph a solo under her guidance. Kylie joined The Batsheva Ensemble in 2022.

Justine Fraser

Justine Fraser is a professional performer, choreographer and dance educator, originally from Penticton BC. She began her formative dance training at Okanagan Dance Studios and at 14, she relocated to Vancouver, BC to begin her professional training at Pacific Dance Arts. Here, she trained with a professional focus on both classical ballet and contemporary dance styles. Justine spent her summers training at a variety of ballet schools, on scholarships, including Boston Ballet School, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Alonzo King Lines, and the Banff Centre for Performing Arts. Upon graduation, Justine received a scholarship to begin her B.F.A. at the Alonzo King Lines Dance Centre, in San Francisco, CA where her training broadened to include Modern Dance Technique (HORTON), Commercial Jazz, Percussion, Gyrokinesis work, Choreographic Process, and Neo-classical Ballet. Justine has gone on to perform with multiple contemporary and classical ballet companies throughout North America and became a soloist dancer with Ballet Jörgen Canada in 2012. Justine is an accredited ballet teacher with the American Academy of Ballet and in addition to teaching, she is also a reputable dance adjudicator and a member of the Professional Adjudicator’s Alliance. Most recently, Justine had the pleasure of setting original choreography on the company dancers of Coastal City Ballet (BC), Lunarfest Taiwan, and Ballet Concierto Cancún (MX), to name a few. Currently Justine is the Director of the pre-professional ballet and contemporary dance programs, for Lake Country School of Dance. In addition to directing these departments, she is also working as Artistic Staff with Ballet Kelowna, and is the resident choreographer for Coastal City Ballet, in Vancouver BC. Through her work with professional companies, she is working daily with the professional company dancers, teaching regular company classes, working through choreography, and stepping in for rehearsal direction.
