Tips for Taking Class Online

BALLET

Have a chair readily available to use as a barre.

CONTEMPORARY

We recommend dancing on a hardwood or linoleum floor if possible for an easier turning experience.

FLEX & CONDITIONING

If possible, have a folding chair readily available. If you do not have a folding chair, have a basic chair at the ready. Have a foam block or a folded towel over a stack of books. We also would love if you could have 2 heavy cans, or 2 full water bottles to use as weights. If you have extra tea towels, bring those as well.

JAZZ/LYRICAL

We recommend dancing on a hardwood or linoleum floor if possible for an easier turning experience.

HIP HOP

If your dancer is dancing in sneakers, consider the floor they will be dancing on. If you are concerned that their runners will mark up the floor, have your dancer dance in non-marking shoes or barefeet.

BREAKDANCE

If your dancer will be training on carpet, you may want to consider obtaining a piece of cardboard for your dancer to augment their experience.

MUSICAL THEATRE

Consider dancing/singing in a room away from others as there will be singing involved!

TAP

We recommend that you make a tap board for your dancer or have your dancer dance on tile or linoleum. If you do not have access to a tap board, we recommend tapping in leather soled shoes or running shoes on tile, so as to not damage your floors. For younger and beginner dancers, you can use a piece of flattened cardboard as a tap board.

ACROBATICS

If you have a yoga mat at home, please have it ready to use for class. Try and set-up near an empty wall, so it can be used for handstands etc.
