Gaylene Burton C.D.T.A.

Gaylene takes enormous joy in sharing her love of dance through teaching, choreography and performance. Her energy and spirit light up every room that she is in. Gaylene is CDTA certified in Tap and Stage and has a strong background in Jazz and Ballet. Gaylene's industrial credits include principal dancer/actor in the television pilot “A Screwball Homicide”, principal dancer in the feature film “Life Or Something Like It”, principal dancer in the feature film “For The Moment”, actor in the television pilot “That Was Then”, dancer in the television series “Dead Like Me” and “American Bandstand”. She has many commercial credits including a choreography credit for Radio Shack. Gaylene continues to share her positive enthusiasm with students as a full time instructor at Dance Co.

Stephanie Applin A.Dip.A.I.S.T.D.

A former member of the National Ballet of Canada, Stephanie trained with the Royal Winnipeg professional division and graduated from the National Ballet of Canada teacher training program, Cecchetti Division, with Honours. Stephanie has done choreography for companies and studios throughout North America and her work has been acknowledged with numerous awards. Stephanie originally hails from Victoria, BC. We are pleased to welcome Stephanie back for her sixth season with Dance Co.

Stephanie Johnson

Originally from Edmonton, AB, Stephanie joins the Dance Co faculty for as a jazz, lyrical, stage and acro instructor. In addition to her strong background in ballet, Stephanie is a NCCP certified level one gymnastics coach and an AFLCA certified fitness instructor. Stephanie's skills and passion are a great asset to our dancers!

Leanne Voyce BFA    A.I.S.T.D.  RAD

Leanne comes to us with a vast ballet background, having trained with the Edmonton School of Ballet and being a certified instructor in both the Cecchetti and RAD ballet methods. She also earned her BFA in dance from Simon Fraser University. She has extensively studied the RAD, Vagnova and Cecchetti methods and has taught at the St. Petersburg University of Art and Culture. We are pleased to have Leanne with us here at Dance Co for a third season.

Megan Green

Megan originally hails from Fort St. John, BC, where she studied extensively in ballet, tap, jazz & acrobatics. At the age of 12 she began student teaching and quickly developed a love for sharing her knowledge and passion for dance. Megan has been teaching continuously since that day. She moved to Vancouver in 2005 to continue her training with Move! The Company and perform in various shows throughout the city. Megan is now a full time teacher at Dance Co. She is excited about working with our students to create strong and confident dancers.

Fonda Bloy

Fonda has over 10 years of teaching experience throughout BC and firmly believes that with continuous work and dedication any student can go beyond what they ever thought they could or would accomplish! Fonda has trained and performed throughout Canada, New York, Las Vegas and L.A. and her choreography has won multitudes of cash prizes and choreography awards. For the past four years, many of Fonda’s pieces and soloists have received provincial recognition. Fonda sees the importance of keeping her choreography original, stylized and updated with what is new and current in the dance world.

Lisa Gelley

Lisa is an emerging dance artist from Vancouver, BC. She is a versatile performer, teacher and choreographer in urban and contemporary dance as well as circus arts, having received her training in Vancouver, Belgium, France and Italy. Her career has flown her across the globe, touring Internationally with the Molyneux Company (Nashville, TN) and performing for the Canadian Forces in Bosnia and Afghanistan. Lisa has worked with Ruckus Dance Company, MMHop, The Source Dance Company, The Underground Circus, and with independent Vancouver choreographers including Amber Funk Barton, Brock Jellison, Josh Beamish, Shay Kuebler, and Martha Carter. During the 07/08 season, Lisa trained at Le Groupe Dance Lab in Ottawa and was a guest interpreter for the In-House Process, monitered by Peter Boneham and Tony Chong. Now, back in Vancouver, her most recent performances include Dances for a Small Stage 19 (MovEnt), and Dance Allsorts (NewWorks). Lisa is currently working with The 605 Collective.(www.605collective.com) They are excited to be Artists-In-Residence at the Dance Centre in Vancouver, and at Usine C in Montreal, for the upcoming season.

Isabella Tsisserev

We would like to welcome our new accompanist Isabella Tsisserev. Isabella has worked as the head accompanist for Art’s Umbrella, Ballet B.C, The Goh Ballet, Harbour Dance and the professional division of the School of Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Isabella is a member of the BC Registered Music Teacher’s Association and also holds a degree in Music Education.

Kelly Urquhart BBA

Kelly is an innovative choreographer and teacher. Her relentless pursuit of perfection captured her the outstanding choreography award at Dance Power Festival. Kelly's performance credits include dancing in the feature films Josie and the Pussycats, and Life or Something Like It with Angelina Jolie. She worked with Jann Arden on Big Sound and has danced in numerous industrials and dance fashion shows including Tommy Hilfiger.

Jen Morris C.D.M.A. in Jazz, BFA Theatre

Jen is an emerging theatre artist here in Vancouver with 12 years of experience teaching competitive and recreational jazz, tap and musical theatre. She works extensively with many theatre companies including leaky Heaven Circus, Rumble, The Here Be Monsters and Craning Neck. Her lead theatre credits include “The Dark Between”, “The Queens”, The Possibilities”, Marc Diamond’s “Firebugs”, “The Donahue Sisters”, “4 48 Psychosis” and a recent short film “Hell of a Wedding”. Jen finds excitement and passion in combining her love of dance and theatre and constantly looking for ways to inspire and excite her students with her love of self expression through the performing arts.
 

Anton Lim BCom

Anton is a former Dance Co student who is thrilled to be joining the faculty this year to teach hip hop, jazz and tap! A recent graduate of McGill University, he danced for four years with Mosaica, the McGill Dance Company, training in tap, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, and contemporary. As a Theatre Under the Stars alumnus with a strong background in music and theatre, he brings a keen awareness of performance quality, musicality and nuanced expression to the studio. His further experience as a senior teaching assistant at McGill has also afforded him expertise as an instructor and a mentor. In addition to teaching, Anton will be dancing with the Source Dance Company for the 2009-2010 season.
