Commitment & Conduct
Attendance
Dance Co's classes run from mid-September to the beginning of June. Students are required to register and attend for the entire 9 months, as classes are progressive. Students who miss class put the entire class at a disadvantage, due to the fact that absent students must be taught the missed material while the rest of the class repeats what they covered the week before. This allows restlessness and boredom to replace interest and activity. For this reason, Dance Co has adopted a “3 strikes you're out policy”. Any student who misses 3 or more classes a term for non-medical reasons will be asked to leave the school. No refunds will be issued. This is to ensure that students receive the most out of our programs and that they spend their time at Dance Co learning, not repeating.
Uniforms
Students are required to wear the prescribed uniforms and arrive on time with their hair up and with all necessary equipment (shoes, kneepads, hair kits, etc.) NO JEWELRY OR WATCHES are allowed in the studios as they can cause harm to both the student wearing them and the other students in the class. Chewing gum is not allowed, as it is a choking hazard and a sign of disrespect.
Performances and Competitions
Dance is a team sport; therefore, it is integral that each student attend every performance and competition. It is discouraging to the entire group when individuals are absent. Students are notified early in the year of festival dates, and are expected to make their participation a priority. If students are unable to attend an event, their instructors must be informed early in the year. Students who do not attend performances and competitions without notice will be asked to leave the class or the school. Attendance is mandatory at competitive, intensive and company levels. No refunds will be given.
