Training Levels
Dance Co offers four levels of training: Recreational, Competitive, Intensive and Company.Recreational
Preschool, Pre-Primary, Primary, Junior, Intermediate, Senior, Adult
These are once a week classes that focus on instilling a love of dance and a joy for movement. Ballet is strongly recommended along with a second discipline. Students interested in studying either Hip Hop or Breakdance are strongly recommended to take both classes, in order to receive a well rounded and thorough grounding in all aspects of this style. We also offer combination classes for Pre-Primary and Primary students at the recreational level. In these combo classes, two disciplines of dance will be studied in the same class.
Please see the class schedule for combo class options. All Fall and Winter students at this level will perform in the year end recital May 25-27th, 2012. Dance Co accepts registrations at this level three times per year. Classes beginning in September run through until June of the following year, classes beginning in January run through until June and classes beginning in July run through until August. During September registration there are two different registration options for the Preschool and Adult classes only. Students in these classes may choose to register for the full year (Sept - June) or for one term only (Sept - Dec).Accelerated / Advanced Recreational

These classes are designed for dancers with a minimum of 1-3 years of
training. Students will work towards their performance at the year end recital May 25-27th, 2012. Students at this level are strongly recommended to study ballet in addition to their other disciplines.Competitive
By audition or invitation only. Primary, Junior, Intermediate, Senior
These classes are designed for the more serious dance student. The competitive Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop classes are based on 2-3 classes a week per discipline. Students prepare for competitions in choreography classes and develop their skills in technique classes. All competitive students are required to study competitive Ballet in addition to their other classes (with the exception of Tap and Hip Hop). Competitive HIp Hop and Breakdance students are strongly urged to study both disciplines in conjunction with each other, in order to strengthen all aspects of this style. Students will perform in the 'Sneak Peek' Pre-show on
February 25th 2012, compete in regional festivals in the Spring and perform in the year end rectal May 25th - 27th, 2012.To audition in person, please attend our Competitive/Company Auditions for Fall 2012/2013. For more information about the auditions, please call the Dance Co office. If you are unable to attend these auditions, please register in one of the summer schools or weekly classes for evaluation. Be sure to note your audition request on the summer registration form.

Dance Co's Company classes provide an excellent base for our most serious and gifted students. Company members take eight to sixteen classes a week. Company students can focus on Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Stage, and Contemporary and/or Tap, Hip Hop and Breakdance. Additional Acro, Body Conditioning, and Pointe classes will be offered to Company dancers on a supplementary basis where appropriate. Company members are urged to take all of their classes together to create a team spirit, which is integral to their ability to perform and excel as dancers. Company members will perform in Dance Co's 'Sneak Peek' Pre-show on February 25th, 2012 and compete provincially at three festivals in March, April and May. They will also perform in Dance Co's year
end recital May 25th - 27th, 2012, and may be eligible to present festival winning routines at our “Showcase 2012" honours performance May 26th.Dancers interested in auditioning must have a minimum of three years experience, a distinct natural ability
and be willing to push themselves to be the best dancer they can be. To apply please send in a recording showing barre work, centre exercises, flexibility and a lyrical and jazz combination. Pro'fessional Half-day Training Program - Intermediate & Senior
The most intense training program for the most serious dance students; based on physical talent, work ethic and performanc
e ability. For grade 8-12 students, who wish to pursue a career in dance, while still attaining their academic goals. This program combines with a half-day secondary school program; either through SPARTS at Magee Secondary School or with permission from the dancers home school (the home school must have a non rotating block schedule). This program allows dancers to allocate additional hours during the school day to dance and still meet their academic requirements. Classes begin mid-day several days a week and are finished by early
evening most days. Dancers must have a tremendous desire to excel. Dancers will train in all disciplines, study all aspects of Dance, including anatomy, bodywork, choreography and history of dance. Additionally, these dancers will participate in the teacher-training program. Pro' Half day dances will perform, train, and compete with their Company and Intensive counterparts for choreography. Core competing routines will be done in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, and Contemporary dance, with optional additions of Tap, Hip Hop and Acro.This intense and demanding program requires full commitment from the students and their families. All
classes demand high levels of physical strength, technique and discipline. The Pro' Half Day Program isdesigned to provide the more focused and dedicated student with quality training in preparation for a career within dance; and most importantly within the most nurturing and positive environment possible.
